Electric co-op youth program means education, fun
Mallory Kelly, of Wheaton High School, was among the 85 students from across Missouri who participated in the Missouri Electric Cooperative CYCLE (Cooperative Youth Conference and Leadership Experience) program. The conference was held July 16-19, 2024 at the DoubleTree Hotel in Jefferson City.

Land of Smiles educates students in Wheaton
Delta Dental of Missouri’s popular, award-winning Land of Smiles dental education program is on the road, taking the crusade for healthy teeth to more than 18,400 youngsters at 77 schools across the state in the coming weeks. The cast of dynamic superhero characters made their most recent stop in Wheaton for a performance at Wheaton Elementary School, teaching good dental health habits to 215 students in kindergarten through third grade.

Bulldogs bring ‘sneaky good’ potential
With six returning starters taking to the diamond for Wheaton this season, Bulldogs Baseball Coach Tucker Dermott said this year is one of the most promising for his squad to be “sneaky good.” Excited for Wheaton’s positional and lineup versatility, as well as its pitching depth and experience, Dermott said the Bulldogs have a lot of players up for spots who can play anywhere. “Being a small team in the past, I’ve had to make it work because of our lack of depth,” he said.

Shelter sponsors local scholarships
This spring, the Shelter Insurance Foundation will award two $1,500 scholarships, one each to a graduate of Cassville and Wheaton high schools. Cassville Shelter Agent Terri Lynn DeGraffenreid Brattin sponsors and partially funds this scholarship.
