The Missouri Public Service Commission (PSC) recently approved the sale of the City of Neosho’s water and wastewater systems to Missouri American Water (MAW) for $34.5 million, with the completed sale announced by MAW on Sept. 3.

Size matters in passed bill
When it comes to pending new regulations for waste-storage basins and tanks, size will make a difference. Earthen basins the size of Denali Water Solutions’ Evans and Gideon lagoons, in Newton and McDonald Counties — which each have a storage capacity of about 15 million gallons — could be subject to tighter regulations if proposed legislation is signed into law by Governor Parson.

The draining of Denali Water Solutions’ storage lagoons in Newton, McDonald and Macon counties is scheduled to begin after the company’s signing of an administrative action issued by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources (DNR) on Jan. 31.
