Dear Editor: About 8 weeks ago, I read in the paper about the Barry County Sheriffs Citizen Police Academy. We responded and supplied our application to the Sheriff. We were accepted and attended the classes given on Tuesdays from 6-8 p.m.
2 charged with murder
Two Barry County residents are facing first-degree murder charges, among other felonies, with each blaming the other for the shooting death of Marvin Lance McCullough, whose body was found in the trunk of a burned vehicle at a towing facility in Shell Knob.
Kyle Troutman: Jail time
Last Wednesday, I spent some unexpected time in jail. Following a ribbon cutting to officially celebrate the newly constructed Barry County Sheriff’s Office and jail on Old Exeter Road, attendees were invited to tour the facility.
