Kirk memorial removed from courthouse lawn
Kalee Lowe, a 2025 Cassville High School graduate, admires a teddy bear and ceramic angel while removing the Charlie Kirk memorial from the courthouse lawn on Saturday. What began as just a photo, three candles and two flags set up on Sept. 14 grew into dozens of flags, messages and decor honoring the life and memory of Kirk, who was shot to death in Utah while at a Turning Point USA event.

100 attend memorial for Charlie Kirk
Dallas LaCaze speaks at a memorial for Charlie Kirk, held at the Family Life Center in Cassville Sunday night after rains forced the event to move inside instead of on the courthouse square. More than 100 people attended the memorial, the second in two weeks for the Turning Point USA leader who was shot and killed in Utah on Sept. 10.

Prayers up for Charlie Kirk
About 30 residents of the Cassville area gathered on the courthouse lawn Saturday night for a candlelight prayer vigil.

Hometown BBQ hero Joel Curren remembered
Friends and family of Joel Curren, pitmaster who founded and operated BBQ Station in Cassville for 15 years, gathered at his establishment on Sunday afternoon to celebrate his memory. Curren, who specialized in Texas-style hickory smoked barbeque, died on Jan. 17 after a battle with illness. Sharing stories of his friendliness and ownership of BBQ Station were his father Gil Curren, left, of Bentonville, Ark., and Jean Passley, of Cassville.
