200 students participate in ‘See You at the Pole’ prayer gathering
Nearly 200 students combined at Cassville Middle School and Cassville High School participated in the annual See You at the Pole event at the district on Sept. 25 prior to the start of classes. See You at the Pole is a global day of student prayer annually on the fourth Wednesday in September. The event, which began in 1990 with just 10 students, is a prayer rally at the flagpole to lift up friends, families, teachers, school and nation to God. It is initiated, organized and led by students.

Getting in their groove
The Purdy volleyball team is getting into its groove. After a tough 1-6-1 start, and another 6-game skid at the end of September, the Lady Eagles are 3-2-2 in their last seven and gearing up for Class 2, District 11 competition.

Search and rescue finds 2 lost in forest
Two people lost in Mark Twain National Forest in the overnight hours of Sept. 24 were recovered without incident by search and rescue crews with the Central Crossing Fire Protection District.

Power of Pink making milestones
Power of Pink is celebrating its 14th year of service to women diagnosed with breast cancer by raising a record $53,442.90 in donations to four Pink Ladies of 2024. Janice McCracken, Power of Pink founder and organizer, said including this year’s recipients, the organization has helped 54 women total and raised $415,265.51.

In 2024, Power of Pink gave out $13,360.73 to four women undergoing breast cancer treatment. Janice McCracken founder and organizer of Power of Pink said 2024, its 14th year, has been the biggest yet.
