ohnston Edward Dale Johnston, 73, of Marionville, passed away on Friday, March 31, 2023, at Cox South Hospital in Springfield. He was born September 27, 1949, in Aurora, the son of Jacob Edward and Wilda Maxine (Duke) Johnston.

I put on my formal scales Friday and went to take in the Enchanted Ball for K-5th graders at Cassville High School. I’m still not sure what the most enchanting part was. There were about 40 girls armed with fairy wands and spinny dresses, barely visible as they twirled and skipped around the commons.

Eagle Rock building fire station

A $3 million fire station planned for the Eagle Rock-Golden-Mano Fire Protection District will break ground this year, pushing the district into 24-7 coverage. Mark Pierson, district chief, said planning for the facility began a couple of years ago, with plans mostly drawn up by the time officials began working with Ireland Architecture, out of Springfield.

New head coach takes reins at Cassville

The Cassville baseball team opened its home account on March 27, with a new head coach and new turf field bringing an abundance of excitement to the long-established program. Shawn Trent, former assistant baseball coach and junior high softball coach, said the Wildcats had been chomping at the bit to take to the turf field.

I always hear it: “Troutman, I see you everywhere.” Yes, I tend to be “everywhere,” and not only due to the nature of my job. Last week was one of those fast-moving weeks, starting on Monday at the Cassville High School baseball field.

Lucille E. Taylor (Lucy), age 91, of Fairview, MO, went to be with her heavenly father on March 30, 2023. She passed away in her home surrounded by her family. Lucy was born September 3, 1931 in Benedict, KS. She was the daughter of the late Loren and Cordia (Varner) Owens.
