New pipes going in

Limited progress was made last week on the wastewater pipe project, but the contractor did resolve the last of their logistical issues and got some new pipe in the ground. During the week of April 24, the city of Cassville expects open trench construction on 11th Street to stay primarily between Fair and Harold streets.

Trojans’ confidence growing on the diamond

At 5-9, the Southwest baseball team’s record is misleading. The Trojans, according to coach Derek Mann, had heavy-hitting opponents in the first half of the season, struggled with practice when the field was being completed and have battled their way through injuries.

Robert Humphries, a junior at Southwest High School, earned seven medals in the last three track meets in Pierce City, Spokane and Cassville. In Pierce City and Spokane, Humphries finished runner-up in the 800, as well as a second and a third in the mile.
