New pipes going in

Wastewater project continues on 11th Street

Limited progress was made last week on the wastewater pipe project, but the contractor did resolve the last of their logistical issues and got some new pipe in the ground.

During the week of April 24, the city of Cassville expects open trench construction on 11th Street to stay primarily between Fair and Harold streets.

“If the weather cooperates, the contractor should be installing their first manhole at the intersection of 11th and Harold near the end of the week,” said David Brock, public works administrator for Cassville. “The road closure on 11th Street between Fair and Harold will continue and then likely shift a bit to incorporate the intersection at Harold.”

The contractor will try to keep access open for local traffic but there will likely be times when equipment or materials will block individual driveways.

“If residents need to come or go, they can simply inform someone on the construction crew, a city staff member or the project inspector and they will get you in or out as soon as possible,” Brock said. “This portion of the project may be very disruptive in the immediate area of the excavations. If anyone has questions or concerns issues, please let us know.”

Work on the trenchless rehabilitation is also expected to continue, with cleaning and CCTV inspections of the sewer pipe that will be relined. This work should cause no more than minor disruptions to drivers with short isolated lane closures.

“Please note, the pressurized water jets used to clean the lines can push sewer gases into nearby structures, particularly older structures that are not vented well,” Brock said. “Our apologies for this temporary inconvenience when and where it occurs.”
