Jerry Varner, of Washurn, said it was kind of a fluke how he and his wife, Angie, got into the group tour business. “I’d been a dairy farmer for 20 years when my mother-in-law, who guided group tours, scheduled me to go on a group motor coach bus tour to Colorado and Utah with a bunch of senior adults,” he said. “Turns out, I had so much fun that I thought Angie and I might be able to make a business out of it.”

An Arkansas man was injured on July 4 in a wreck at 7:01 p.m. on Highway 86, one mile west of Golden.
Shell Knob man drowns in Table Rock
A Shell Knob man died in Table Rock Lake on Monday, presumed to have fallen in the water from his fishing boat at about 6 a.m. According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Harry Chamberlain, 62, of Shell Knob, was fishing in a 2022 Sun Dolphin 12-foot utility boat and presumed to have fallen over the side of his boat. After troopers searched the area, Chamberlain was located at 10:55 a.m. on Tuesday.
