Dear Editor: Spring is almost over, and with it, the normal rainy season is almost over. Cassville is very fortunate, because Cassville — known as the City of Seven Valleys — for the last three years has had above average rainfall amounts for the first six months of the year.
Bob Mitchell: Bits and pieces of information
Ever since writing editorials or columns for the Cassville Democrat, a leaning post has been the steel spike that held bits and pieces of information that might be of interest farther down the line. After two moves, the spike disappeared and a substitute had to be found to hold the information that that had accumulated.

Through the years
50 years ago June 28, 1972 After a wide search effort to locate Christine Seal, who went missing on June 19, has been unsuccessful, according to law enforcement, who say there is no hard evidence for them to work with. A reward has been started in an effort to assist in finding her.

Dayton Moore has always been a vocal opponent of purposefully tanking a season for his Kansas City Royals. The former general manager, who is now the team’s president, has refused to sell off his roster in order to have the worst record and nab the top pick in the following summer’s Major League Baseball draft.
National Beta Club comes to Cassville
The National Beta Club is an educational program that promotes leadership, academic excellence and service learning. Junior Beta consists of grades fourth through eighth, and Senior Beta consists of ninth through twelfth grade students.

City of Wheaton addresses businesses in town
The city of Wheaton has had recent discussions concerning garage sales and business licenses in the city. JoGina Park, Wheaton city clerk, said currently there are no requirements in the city for business licenses.
