With a loss in the opening round of district play, the work for Cassville Coach Hannah Ketterman and her Lady Wildcats volleyball team is just beginning. The Barry County Sheriff's Office requires the public's help in identifying a male suspect that allegedly stole a motor vehicle on Farm Road 1200 north of Highway 76. He also allegedly stole credit cards from another vehicle, and the credit cards have been used at various businesses in Arkansas, according to an Oct. 20 posting on the Sheriff's Office...

Seligman hired Olsson Associates for $5,000 to pursue a plan that would better irrigate the city lagoon. The contract costs with the engineering firm's Springfield office include the complete site plan, the stationary gun configurations, the length and the amount of piping, the grid layout and the materials list, said City Clerk Brian Nichols...

The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education has approved an $80,000 grant toward a new preschool program in the Southwest School District. Springfield-based Missouri Equipment Leasing Inc. will construct and transport a 1,296-square-foot modular building to house the preschool children on the southeast corner of the Washburn campus. The classroom space has to be at least 700 square feet to accommodate for the maximum of 20 students in both the morning and afternoon sessions...

Crowder College Cassville Campus students enrolled in 4,157 credit hours this fall, a decrease of 730 hours over fall 2013 and 689 hours over fall 2012, according to documents from the college. "We had such a drastic [change] last year because of the restrictions from the Public School Retirement System," said Angela Seymour, director of the Cassville campus. The Seligman Police Department plans on leasing a 2014 Dodge Charger over a four-year period to upgrade the city's patrol fleet. The Barry County Sheriff's Office took a name off its Most Wanted list with an arrest in Seligman on Oct. 28. Bradley Hufford Jr., 34, of Seligman, is facing a charge of possession of a controlled substance, a class C felony, relating to his Tuesday arrest. He was on the Sheriff Office's Most Wanted list for a separate possession of a controlled substance charge. Hufford is being held in the county jail on a $10,000 bond...

Two people were arrested on Oct. 29 in Washburn on suspicion of manufacturing methamphetamine. Bart Jermain, 54, of Seligman, and Sarah Brooks, 20, of Garfield, Ark., were arrested by the Southwest Missouri Drug Task Force after an investigation at a home on Farm Road 1085...

The Cassville School District has made its move on Phase II of its 1:1 Initiative about two months early, resulting in savings of about $125,000. A guardianship hearing for 18-year-old autistic man Tyler Cairus scheduled for Friday was pushed back, as Cairus' mother, Wendy Cairus, filed for guardianship on Thursday.
