A benefit softball game will be held at the Wheaton ballfields on June 24 at noon. Funds raised will benefit Garrett Roller, 12, of Wheaton, who broke both bones in his leg in a UTV accident in October.
Trout Tales, April 19

I left the river on Thursday to attend part of the Missouri State School Board meeting at Emory Melton Inn. They don’t put fish on the agenda, but I have an item for the board on behalf of students. Bring back sodas and energy drinks! I’ve had many students promise they’ll behave better if you give back “my precious Red Bull.” There’s also a potential for behavior improvement — at least the kids won’t be tired or asleep!
Purdy bests Exeter in district battle

Two top teams in Class 1, District 5 squared off in Exeter on Friday, giving Barry County softball fans a possible peek into the postseason. The Lady Tigers (8-3) hosted Purdy (18-6), and the Lady Eagles took home the win, 7-2.
