Aaron Pyle climbed the new playground structure at Cassville Primary School on April 18, heading to the slide afterward. It was the first day students were allowed to have recess at the new playground after numerous construction delays.

I couldn’t help falling in love at Barn at Bear Ridge on Saturday. The Purdy Prom Committee brough Elvis to shake, rattle and roll the scene. Attendees wearing their blue suede shoes had a little less conversation when the King took the stage. Elvis preached a don’t be cruel message, so no one was left crying in the chapel, and that’s all right. It was a unique Prom experience, one that will remain always on my mind as I go to other proms. Kudos to the Purdy kids for creating unique memories!
34 years on the job
When Cassville Police Chief Dana Kammerlohr was in college to become a veterinary technician, she made a connection within the program that would take her career in a different direction but provide 34 years of employment. Set to retire on June 1, Kammerlohr transitioned from vet tech to training search and rescue dogs, ultimately being hired as a Barry County deputy, where she served for 20 years, then as Cassville police chief for another 14.
State board changes fertilizer permitting
After June 30, the Missouri Fertilizer Control Board (MoFCB) will no longer issue fertilizer permits for the land-application of wastewater residuals. The change comes after outcry from landowners in southwest Missouri led to a meeting of Missouri State representatives and senators at a meeting organized by Representative Dirk Deaton, R-Noel, in Pineville last month.
Here, record, record
Cassville seniors Jolie Evans and Caleb Leach are go-getters. The duo have combined to break three school records this season, and two were in events they do not normally run — but they wanted the records.

I have finally made it to my final quarter before graduation with my Bachelor’s Degree. I have also been revisiting a series of stories I wrote back in 2021 about Celebrate Recovery and where those people are now in their journey.

Travis Earl Bryant, 83, of Cassville, passed away Saturday, April 22, 2023, at home. He was born in Skene, Miss.
