Black bear destroys hives (06/14/07)
Donna said she discovered the initial damage on Thursday night. She found two of her family's three bee hives strewn all along the hillside near her home. Later on in the night, it appears as if the bear returned. According to Donna, the bear came back and drug one of the already damaged hives down the hill and ate all the honey in it. After that, the bear proceeded to the Gracy home and pulled down a finch feeder, which was hanging from a metal hanger on a tree next to the deck...
Pancakes will be piping hot (06/14/07)
Community members are invited to a pancake breakfast, which will be held from 6 to 10 a.m. on Friday, June 15 in the Family Life Center in Cassville. Even in the heat of the summer some individuals are still thinking about volleyball. The Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) recently released new rule changes for the sport for the 2007-08 school year. Among these changes is likely one that could have a big effect on the game. Under the new guidelines put out by MSHSAA, schools may now chose to play a best-of-five set contest. Softball teams picks up wins (06/14/07)
The Cassville summer softball team playing in the Ozark League eked out two victories this week in tight games. The girls beat Parkview (Springfield) in extra innings in their first game and then shut-out Rogersville to win their second. Parkview led off the fourth with a walk and another error and single. It tied the score at 2-2. Both the fifth and sixth innings were scoreless and so forced a seventh inning tie break...

The Cassville American Legion Post 118 baseball team has already started their grueling summer schedule. The squad got off to a rough start but have won their last three games in a row and will play for the Carl Junction Tourna-ment Championship sometime this week.
