July 18, 1973 Cassville Truss Co., owned by Richard Hackett, this week observes its first year of operation. Builders of construction roof trusses and walls, the plant is located on County Farm Road in Cassville.

5 generations gather in Exeter
With the arrival of Octavia Pitts, a local family recently met in Exeter and captured a photograph with five generations of its members. Family members pictured include: Frank Martin, 90, of Exeter; Marie Martin, 85, of Exeter; Rose Lackey, 62, of Exeter; Angela Spellman, 41, of Mount Vernon; Orvil Pitts, 21, of Anderson; Reagan DeSpain, 20, of Anderson; and Octavia Pitts, 3 months. “We are blessed by our Savior and loved by many,” the family said. Cassville class of 1953 reunites
The Cassville High School class of 1953 held its 70th class reunion on May 28 at Roaring River State Park. Soroptimists Club awards scholarship to local woman
The Soroptimist Club of Barry County has selected Ashley England as the 2023 Live Your Dreams Scholarship Winner. England is currently enrolled at Crowder College’s Cassville campus and has aspirations to earn her master’s degree and to one day become the CEO of a company.

Through the Years, July 12
30 YEARS AGO: This finale of the Shell Knob Chamber of Commerce fireworks display over Table Rock Lake Sunday evening lit the whole area. The Central Crossing Bridge is at the lower portion of the photo. Lights on the water are either from boat docks or boats that were in the area carrying spectators. The fantastic display, well executed, drew horn blowing approval from the vessels and shouts of applause from watchers on shore. While boat numbers were thought to be down this year, observers said spectator numbers completely choked traffic in the area for about 45 minutes after the display. Highway Patrol and Barry County sheriff’s department officers were at intersections for control purposes.

Wheaton delegate goes on Youth Tour
One hundred and three high school students participated in Missouri's 60th annual Missouri Electric Youth Tour to Washington, D.C., June 12-18, including a local student. Hayden Royer, of Wheaton, was sponsored by Barry Electric Cooperative.
