40 YEARS AGO: FINISHING WELL WORK — Crew members of a Kansas City firm, put the finishing touches on Well Four for the city of Cassville Tuesday afternoon, ending a three and one-half week shutdown of the water source. Arning donates $5,000 to golf course
On Flag Day on June 14, Arning hosted the third annual Fred Arning Senior Golf Tournament. This year’s tournament fell just two weeks after the Cassville Golf Club lost over 50 trees during the Memorial Day storm in Cassville. Arning was determined to give back more than the years before. Thanks to every participant and sponsor, Arning was able to achieve this goal. “We are thrilled to announce that the tournament successfully raised $5,000, which has been donated back to the golf course, said Angie Edie, Arning vice president of human resources. “A heartfelt thank you to all the golfers, sponsors and volunteers who helped make the tournament a great success.”

Lulu and her brother, O.J. (Odin), were abandoned in the country, but fortunately, they were found by a nice human. They are blackmouth cur mixes, date of birth March 4. They are good with dogs, cats and children. They are crate trained and love to play in the water. They would love to find a loving home and have a short stay in the shelter.
Webbs celebrate 57 years
Arthur and Penelope Webb are celebrating their 57th wedding anniversary.

Beverly and her sister, Fay, were abandoned on a country road. They are both Dachshund/Mixed Breed (Small). Fay is black and Beverly is brown. They are both very friendly girls. Haven staff think they would be best in a home together as a bonded pair. They were born around Jan. 6, 2023. Adopters can complete an adoption application at www.havenoftheozarks.org/adopt.
Sophomore Pilgrim Zee Brown tours state capitol
Exeter High School sophomore Zeanndrea (Zee) Brown was selected as the 2024 recipient of the Silver Leaf Benefit Club’s Sophomore Pilgrimage scholarship. Brown joined chosen high school sophomores from across the state in Jefferson City on the second Tuesday in April for a tour of government buildings and lunch with elected state officials.

Gin has been at the shelter for over 400 days. Her estimated date of birth is May 15, 2022, and she’s a black and brown Rottweiler. Gin and Tonic are sisters who were found and brought to us as strays.

July 31, 1974 — BARRY COUNTY BANK JOINING BANCSHARES For the second time in 60 days, a Cassville bank has announced plans of affiliation with a multibank holding company. Barry County Bank, chartered in January of 1887, announced signing an affiliation agreement with Commerce Bancshares, Inc.
Life Change celebrates 3rd year in Cassville
