Life Change hosting Jobs for Life class starting in September

Acquiring and maintaining meaningful work is one of life’s biggest struggles. Life Change, along with help from business professionals in the community, is here to help. Beginning Sept. 11, Life Change will be offering a class called “Jobs For Life”. It is an 8-week, 16-session course on Monday and Thursday nights from 6-8:30 p.m., with a meal from 5:30-6 p.m. Deadline to sign up is Sept. 4th. Jobs For Life focuses on restoring dignity, changing lives, and transforming communities. In the JFL class, students learn soft skills such as how to write a resume, how to construct a vocational plan, how to conduct themselves in an interview, and how to communicate. But the three most important things students learn in class are Identity, Character, and Community. The next series of sessions will begin in May 2024. City of Washburn offering limb collection area

The city of Washburn will allow residents to bring any tree limbs damaged by recent storms to the corner of County Road and Farm Road 1065, the City Lagoon, for disposal on Sept. 9 from 8 a.m. to noon.

Cassville Farmers’ Market open twice per week

The Cassville Farmers’ Market is open for the season, running twice a week on Tuesdays from 4-7 p.m. across from Security Bank and Saturdays on the Cassville Square from 8 a.m. to noon. The market offers local fresh cut flowers, produce, eggs, baked goods, hand made crafts and more. For more information, people may call 417-846-3539.

Old Church Gallery Farmers’ Market open

The Old Church Gallery Farmers’ Market runs every Thursday from 8-11 a.m. The Market offers fresh produce, eggs, jellies, relishes, baked goods, cut flowers, handmade crafts and more. The selection varies every week, so come early for the best choice. Old Church Gallery is located on Farm Road 1240 in Shell Knob and can be reached at 417-858-2510.

OATS rides available in Barry County

OATS Transit offers regular transportation services for the rural general public of any age, seniors, and individuals with disabilities. Please call the local OATS Transit office at 417-887-9272 or 800-7706287 to schedule a ride or find out about services in the Barry County area. People may also visit the OATS website at oatstransit.org to view local schedules under “Bus Schedules,” then click on the county of service. OATS offices will be closed, and regular routes will not be running on Feb. 20 for Presidents’ Day. Please keep this in mind as trips are scheduled near these holidays. OATS Transit is hiring drivers statewide to can continue serving riders. Openings are listed on the OATS website.

Seligman dances ongoing each Saturday

The Seligman Chamber of Commerce country dances at the Seligman Chamber Event Center are every Saturday from 7-10 p.m. No alcohol is allowed. Admission is $10 per person, and 18-and-under are free. There is a potluck, 50-50 drawing and door prizes. For more information, people may call 479903-3640
