Gin is such a beauty. This sweet girl is about two years old and weighs in at 50 pounds.

40 YEARS AGO: FIRST PLACE PARADE ENTRIES — The floats pictured above and below received first place recognition in Cassville’s Christmas parade here Saturday evening. Each received $150 first prize money from the sponsoring Chamber of Commerce.

Chardonnay is a beautiful Retriever mix with gorgeous blue eyes. We know her mom is a flat coated Retriever. Chardonnay and 8 siblings were born on Sept. 29. Come get your pick of this beautiful litter.

40 YEARS AGO: GOOD SIZE HORNET NEST — This weekend, woodcutters could have gotten more than they bargained for in cutting this hornets nest Sunday.

Virgil is a very handsome and gentle boy who was dumped with dog friend, Vienna. He loves her, but she’s found her new home. He’s a bit timid and needs a patient adopter who will help him build his confidence.

40 YEARS AGO: A LAST MINUTE EFFORT — Jerry Cook, of Rocky Comfort, who works at Garrett Mfg. in Cassville, was just about to give up hunting Sunday. In fact, at 4:30 p.m., the last day of gun deer season, he was coming back to his vehicle, in sleet and snow. As he thought about the season and possible missed opportunities, little did he realize he was about to be quite successful. The results of his shot so late in the season is pictured above.

Meet Boo Boo! She’s crate trained, housetrained and loves people of all ages. She’s good with other dogs and has already been a fun playmate for several other Haven dogs. She’s been good with cats in the shelter environment. Boo Boo would likely fit in well almost anywhere, although an active home would be her favorite. Her age is a little over a year and her weight is 47 pounds.

40 YEARS AGO: HALLOWEEN OBSERVERS AND FRIENDS--A couple of Rotary Club Halloween street party observers probably didn’t know who they were visiting with... and we won’t tell. Chip Lawson and Les Charles, were confronted by this costumed pair last Wednesday night in Cassville.

Meet Squeak! She is likely a boxer/redbone coonhound mix. Date of birth is June 23. Squeak and her three siblings haven’t had a lot of love and attention that they should have as babies but are sweet, adorable pups who are waiting at the Haven for their special family.
