A motion to revoke the bond of a Washburn man accused of multiple sex crimes has been denied.
Barry County Prosecutor Amy Boxx filed the motion to revoke the $50,000 cash bond of Wesley Roller, born 1950, of Washburn, on Aug. 25. Boxx cited Facebook screenshots provided by the Barry County Sheriff’s Office showing Roller holding an infant while attending a public sporting event on Aug. 1.
Roller is charged in three separate cases. The first carries charges of sodomy – victim less than 14 years old and first-degree sexual abuse; the second carries charges of patronizing a sexual performance by a child, fourth-degree child molestation and misdemeanor second-degree sexual misconduct; and the third case carries charges of second-degree statutory sodomy and misdemeanor second-degree child molestation in the third case.
According to the bond condition order for charges in the third case, on which he was released on the $50,000 cash bond, Roller was prohibited from having contact with anyone under the age of 18.
Originally set for Sept. 8, the motion hearing was moved to Sept. 4 after Roller’s attorney, John Lewright, filed a motion for continuance, as he was scheduled to be at a hearing in Newton County at the time.
On Sept. 4, Judge David Cole denied the motion to revoke the bond. Cole declined comment on the decision, saying he cannot comment on specific cases or rulings.
As of Friday afternoon, Boxx had not replied to an email seeking comment.
A jury trial for all three of Roller’s cases is set for Feb. 23-25, 2026, in Cole’s courtroom in Stone County. The pre-trial conference is scheduled for Jan. 12, 2026.
Roller was arrested in January and posted $5,000 bonds in May for each of the first two cases. He was released from jail in July after posting a $50,000 cash bond in the third case.
