Get a part in ‘Chickenheart’

The Shell Knob in the Spotlight (SKITS) community theater group has announced auditions for the spring play, “Chickenheart” — a hysterical melodrama set in the medieval era penned by playwright Craig Sodaro and directed locally by Brent Waugh, of Shell Knob.

This funny and engaging melodrama requires 14 actors including parts for 10 women and four men who will be portraying interesting, entertaining and even zany characters in an age of chivalry, bravery, nobility, and of course, romance.

Several of the featured central character roles include Lady Emma who is betrothed to the cunning Sir Cutbert, as well as Mother Abbess, and of course the principal protagonist Norman, alias Chickenheart. Additionally there is a myriad of smaller and supporting roles that are available.

The SKITS board of directors has chosen once more another totally different play poised to be a very entertaining community theatrical experience for its audience.

The key ingredient to this hilarious melodrama are the actors who breathe life and personality into the characters.

Whether a seasoned veteran or a newbie wanting to take the plunge into the fun and excitement of community theater, SKITS invites all to the auditions on Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Central Crossing Senior Center, located at 20801 Hwy. YY-15 in Shell Knob.

‘Chickenheart’ will be presented April 19-21 at the Central Community United Methodist Church, located at 25682 Hwy. YY in Shell Knob.
