Sheriff’s Deputies offer storm cleanup services

Following the tree and limb damage from Sunday’s overnight storm, Barry County Sheriff Danny Boyd said deputies are looking to volunteer their time to help in the cleanup. Any person who has tree or limb damage in their yard and is disabled or physically unable to clean it may call the office at 417-847-6556 and ask for Boyd to schedule a cleanup. “Some of our deputies have saws and, when off-duty, want to help get yards cleaned up,” Boyd said. “they are willing to do what they can to help out.”

Multi-session MU program focuses on health

The Cassville Branch Library and MU Extension team are partnering to host a free multi-session program, “Taking Care of You.” The program, for adults 18 and over, will offer four sessions from 2-4 p.m. on Aug. 7, Aug. 14, Aug. 21 and Aug. 28. “Taking Care of You” aims to explore ways to take better care of all aspects of an individual’s health; to help people become more aware of the mind-body connection and use this for better health; to help people respond versus react to stresses in life; to help people discover opportunities in life’s challenges; to help people develop healthier habits; and to bring more joy into people’s lives and help them live in the moment. ‘Back 2 Bash’ to collect school supplies

The Eagle Rock Friends of the Library and Eagle Rock Community Association is holding a “Back 2 Bash” on Saturday. The event will start with OutDoor Family Games at 4 p.m., an Ice Cream Social with homemade Ice Cream and a contest at 6 p.m., and a Family Friendly Movie in the Barn at 7 p.m. We will be collecting school supplies for the children in our area.

Cruise-In coming up

The Cassville Cruisers will host a Cruise-In on Aug. 12 rom 4 p.m. to dusk at the Barry County Museum, south of Cassville on Highway 112. Admission is free. Monthly meetings are the Tuesday prior to the Cruise-In at Sho Me Plaza on Highway 248 in Cassville at 7 p.m. For more information on the car club, people may visit www.cassvillecruisers. com.

Waste Management District to meet

The Southwest Missouri Waste Management District N will hold its monthly Executive Board meeting at 11:50 a.m. on Tuesday at Angus Branch Steakhouse in Monett. This meeting is open to the public. A teleconference number will also be available for this meeting. Wheaton Class of 1973 meeting Aug. 26 at BBQ

The Wheaton High School Class of 1973 invites family, friends, former classmates and neighbors to stop in the shade by Railroad Depot Museum, located at 311 Main St., during 65th Annual Wheaton BBQ. Cassville Farmers’ Market open twice per week

The Cassville Farmers’ Market is open for the season, running twice a week on Tuesdays from 4-7 p.m. across from Security Bank and Saturdays on the Cassville Square from 8 a.m. to noon. OATS rides available in Barry County

OATS Transit offers regular transportation services for the rural general public of any age, seniors, and individuals with disabilities. Please call the local OATS Transit office at 417-887-9272 or 800-7706287 to schedule a ride or find out about services in the Barry County area. People may also visit the OATS website at oatstransit.org to view local schedules under “Bus Schedules,” then click on the county of service. OATS offices will be closed, and regular routes will not be running on Feb. 20 for Presidents’ Day. Please keep this in mind as trips are scheduled near these holidays. OATS Transit is hiring drivers statewide to can continue serving riders. Openings are listed on the OATS website.

Seligman dances ongoing each Saturday

The Seligman Chamber of Commerce country dances at the Seligman Chamber Event Center are every Saturday from 7-10 p.m. No alcohol is allowed. Admission is $10 per person, and 18-and-under are free. There is a potluck, 50-50 drawing and door prizes. For more information, people may call 479-903-3640.
