Original Washington quarter plaster models on display
A small but ubiquitous piece of American history will be on display this weekend at the Old Church Gallery near Shell Knob. Tom and Nancy Rochovansky, owners of the Gallery, are hosting a special display of the original plaster casts of the 1932 design of George Washington, used for a commemorative gold coin and son to be used on a new set of quarters.
Barry County E9-1-1 awarded for excellence
Barry County Emergency Services E9-1-1 has been recognized by The International Academies of Emergency Dispatch (IAED) as an Accredited Center of Excellence (ACE) for Emergency Police Dispatching (EPD). Barry County Emergency Services E9-1-1 is the 27th EPD ACE in the world.
Purdy returns to school
With various school improvement projects scheduled for work throughout the coming school year, Purdy has amended its car pick-up and drop-off routes. This year, parents and others picking kids up from school are being asked to enter onto Gabby Gibbons Drive on the east side of the campus.

Local park ranger earns state award
Corporal Steve Jabben, a park ranger with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources’ Division of Missouri State Parks, has been selected as the State of Missouri and department Team Member of the Month for July 2022. Jabben was selected for his service to the department and for his lifesaving efforts during two incidents at Roaring River State Park.
Playgrounds delayed by supply chain
Cassville students started classes on Tuesday, and one thing will look different for primary and intermediate students in the first semester – recess. Merlyn Johnson, Cassville superintendent, said due to supply chain issues, the playground renovations expected to be completed by September have been delayed.
