Victim pulled shotgun during altercation

A Golden man has been charged with a felony following an altercation where a shotgun was pulled and vehicle was allegedly rammed.

Kevin Ramer II, 34, of Golden, is charged with second-degree assault in relation to the incident.

According to a probable cause statement filed by Cpl. S. Bounds, with the Barry County Sheriff’s Office, on Sept. 2 at about 8:21 p.m., the victim reported being confronted by Ramer outside of a grocery store in Eagle Rock regarding money Ramer believed was owed to him.

The victim stated Ramer was allegedly holding a receiver hitch in his hand and threatening him by allegedly stating words to the effect of, “I’m going to beat you to death,” or “I’m going to beat you down.”

The victim said he walks to his vehicle and told Ramer to put the receiver hitch away and calm down, and Ramer allegedly continued to pursue and threaten him.

The victim then retrieved a shotgun from his vehicle and pointed it toward Ramer, stating he told Ramer he would shoot him in the kneecaps if necessary.

The victim stated Ramer subsequently entered his truck, placed it in revers and accelerated, allegedly ramming the victim’s vehicle and cauing property damage to the rear driver’s side door of the vehicle.

Bounds said in the statement Ramer allegedly admitted to confronting the victim at the location regarding money the victim owed him.

Bounds said the charge was filed due to Ramer allegedly ramming the victim’s vehicle while the victim was in the vicinity, placing the victim’s life in danger. He also stated he believes Ramer poses a danger to the victim, community or any other person because he allegedly put the victim in danger and rammed a vehicle in a public parking lot with other customers in the area.

Bounds also noted Ramer has been found guilty of two counts of forger and one count of battery in Berryville, Ark., and Eureka Springs, Ark., courts in 2014.

Ramer was booked into the Barry County jail on a cash only bond of 25,000. He has been arraigned, and bond modification as denied in a hearing held on Sept. 10 in the courtroom of Judge Robert Foulke.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 24 at 10 a.m. in Foulke’s court.
