The Barry County Genealogical and Historical Society held a Community Supporters Appreciation Day to recognize and thank the members and businesses of the community who help fund the new front porch columns, as well as recent front porch and roof repairs at the Bayless-Salyer House. Over $14,000 was raised for the column replacements, and over $5,000 was raised for the porch and roof repairs. The Historical Society thanks all involved in the restorations. Approximately 50 people showed up on a rainy Sept. 20 at the Bayless-Salyer House. The Society members, the contributors and other visitors enjoyed finger foods, coffee and tea, and they were entertained by the Hilburn Brothers Band from Grove, Okla. The Historical Society would like to thank the band and to also thank the visitors who made contributions Saturday as they toured the house. Society President, HL Hilburn, would like to give a big thank you to the Society members who worked so hard to put this day together and to our Cassville Rotary Interact student helpers, Shelby Knoefler and Hale Cox.
