Vehicle catches fire by Aquatic Center

 

Fuel line issues lead to engine becoming fully involved

A vehicle caught fire on Sept. 2 in the parking lot of the Cassville Aquatic Center.

According to a Cassville Fire Protection District report, at 3:20 p.m. on Sept. 2, the district was dispatched to a vehicle fire at the Aquatic Center parking lot entrance, arriving on scene at 3:22 p.m. and controlling the blaze by 3:31 p.m.

Crews arrived on scene to find a pickup with the engine compartment fully involved, with extension to the passenger compartment. An engine arrived on scene and began fire attack and water supply.

Once the fire was out, the vehicle was removed by Brice’s Towing, per the owner’s request, and the roadway was washed down. The scene was cleared at 4:06 p.m.

The report said the vehicle’s owner stated he has had some fuel line issues and was taking the vehicle to the shop for repairs but was unable to make it there.

According to a Cassville Police Department report, the driver was Francis Gorgen, 65, of Cassville. Officer Jesus Perez responded to the scene to find the 2002 Dodge Ram unoccupied and on fire. Gorgen was not injured in the incident. and no tickets were issued.
