Purdy student serves as FCCLA State Officer at National Leadership Conference

Alvarez-Hernandez participates in officer training, workshops
A Purdy student is making his mark on a national stage.
Pablo Alvarez-Hernandez, a member of the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) Chapter at Purdy High School, recently attended the 2025 FCCLA National Leadership Conference (NLC), held in Orlando from July 5-9. The conference welcomed thousands of student leaders from across the nation for a week of competition, officer training, leadership development, and career exploration.
In addition to representing Missouri in his role as a Missouri State FCCLA Officer, Alvarez-Hernandez participated in specialized officer training, where he collaborated with fellow state leaders and met FCCLA officers from across the United States. These trainings prepared him to serve Missouri FCCLA with purpose and confidence throughout the upcoming school year.
The National Leadership Conference also brought together students to compete in Students Taking Action with Recognition (STAR) Events, attend skill-building workshops, and connect with peers from across the country.
“Attending officer training and engaging with other FCCLA leaders from around the nation helped me see the impact we can make when we work together,” Alvarez-Hernandez said. “I’m excited to bring what I’ve learned back to both Missouri and Purdy and help lead with purpose this year.”
The National Leadership Conference provided FCCLA members with dynamic opportunities to strengthen their leadership skills, explore career pathways, and build meaningful connections. Through competitive events, workshops, and networking, students gained real-world experience and a renewed passion for making positive change in their communities.
Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) is a dynamic and effective student-led national organization supporting youth as they become the leaders of tomorrow. Through Family and Consumer Sciences education, members address important personal, family, work, and societal issues. FCCLA has over 240,000 members and more than 5,200 chapters across the nation.
FCCLA: The Ultimate Leadership Experience is unique among youth organizations because its programs are planned and run by student members. It is the only career and technical intracurricular student organization with a central focus on careers that support families. Participation in national FCCLA programs and chapter activities helps members become strong leaders in their families, careers, and communities.
