District seeds delivered

Local baseball teams set for postseason

Five Barry County baseball teams will compete in three district tournaments this week and next, one of which is being hosted by Purdy.

Cassville (8-11) earned the No. 5 seed in Class 4, District 11, facing No. 4 East Newton (13-12) on Friday at 5 p.m. at Monett North Park. The winner will face No. 1 Seneca (17-8) on Monday at 6 p.m.

No. 2 Aurora (13-12) faces No. 3 Monett (10-11) on Monday in the other semifinal at 4 p.m., and the championship game is on Tuesday at 5 p.m.

Purdy (16-8) is hosting the Class 2, District 12 tournament, capturing the No. 1 seed and a bye into the semifinals. The Eagles will face the winner of No. 4 Marionville (6-12) and No. 5 Blue Eye (4-9-1) at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.

The other semifinal will see No. 2 New Heights Christian Academy (15-5) facing the winner of No. 3 Jasper (13-6) and No. 6 Crane (3-12). at 6:30 p.m. Friday.

The championship is Monday at 5 p.m. in Purdy.

In Class 3, District 11, Southwest (5-18) received the No. 5 seed and will face No. 4 seed Sarcoxie (7-14) at 4:30 p.m. Friday in Pierce City. The winner will face No. 1 Clever (14-12) at 4:30 p.m. Monday in one semifinal, with the other including No. 2 Diamond (13-6) and No. 3 Pierce City (11-8) on Monday at 6:30 p.m.

The title bout is set for Tuesday at 5 p.m. in Pierce City.

In the Class 1, District 5 tournament, Exeter (9-9) landed the No. 2 seed and will await the winner of No. 3 Lockwood (7-10) and No. 6 Verona (0-13) for a 6:30 p.m. semifinal on Monday. At the top of the bracket, No. 4 Wheaton (5-11-1) will face No. 5 McAuley Catholic (2-9) at 4:30 p.m. Friday, with the winner to face No. 1 seed and tournament host Billings (12-3) in a semifinal on Monday at 4:30 p.m.

The championship game is set for Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
