Citizens for Justice sets next meeting

Citizens for Justice — Barry County will host its second community meeting on Friday at 6 p.m. at the pavilion at the Stumpff Family Event Center (old American Legion grounds). The group’s mission is as follows: “To bring answers to the community on crime in our area. We hope to assist local and state officials in identifying where the issues reside and finding ways to fix them. Let’s all work together to bring positive changes to our community and our families.”

Tax statements mailed

Barry County Collector Skyler Bowman announced this week that the 2023 Tax Statements were mailed to Barry County taxpayers today (Wednesday). Anyone that does not receive their statements by Nov. 15 should call the collector’s office at 417-847-2113 to inquire about them. The 2023 taxes become delinquent on January 1, 2024. Taxpayers are able to make payments by mail, in person or online. Payment can be made in person at the collector’s office with cash, check, debit or credit card. When paying with a debit or credit card the provider of this service will be charging a fee. Also, payment can be made on-line at barrycountycollector. com and a fee will be applied when paying in this matter.

Holiday Craft Fair on Nov. 11

The Barry County Genealogical and Historical Society will host the Second Annual Holiday Craft Fair, in support of the Bayless/Salyer house, on Nov. 11 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Vendor spaces are available. Senior Center to host Bazaar

The Cassville Senior Center is seeking arts and crafts vendors for a Holiday Craft Bazaar, scheduled for Nov. 18 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Center, located at 1111 Fair St. in Cassville. The cost is $25 per table, and proceeds benefit the Center. Table availability is limited, and people may register at the Cassville Senior Center and pay in person or mail the registration and payment to the Center. Cassville Farmers’ Market open twice per week

The Cassville Farmers’ Market is open for the season, running twice a week on Tuesdays from 4-7 p.m. across from Security Bank and Saturdays on the Cassville Square from 8 a.m. to noon. The market offers local fresh cut flowers, produce, eggs, baked goods, hand made crafts and more. For more information, people may call 417-846-3539.

OATS rides available in Barry County

OATS Transit offers regular transportation services for the rural general public of any age, seniors, and individuals with disabilities. Please call the local OATS Transit office at 417-887-9272 or 800-770-6287 to schedule a ride or find out about services in the Barry County area. People may also visit the OATS website at oatstransit.org to view local schedules under “Bus Schedules,” then click on the county of service. OATS offices will be closed, and regular routes will not be running on Feb. 20 for Presidents’ Day. Please keep this in mind as trips are scheduled near these holidays. OATS Transit is hiring drivers statewide to can continue serving riders. Openings are listed on the OATS website.

Seligman dances ongoing each Saturday

The Seligman Chamber of Commerce country dances at the Seligman Chamber Event Center are every Saturday from 7-10 p.m. No alcohol is allowed. Admission is $10 per person, and 18-and-under are free. There is a potluck, 50-50 drawing and door prizes. For more information, people may call 479-903-3640.
