Jeff Tanksley: What song do you sing?

Psalm 40:3 “He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Many will see and fear, and put their trust in the Lord.”

As we pray and worship, whether it’s our private time with the Lord or with our church family, we should be entering into His presence with an attitude of gratitude and thanksgiving.

But, when we are in worship, a lot of people sing, but don’t abandon or surrender themselves to God. Same as prayer; we say words but don’t abandon or surrender ourselves to Him.

In other words, you come in worship in control and you leave in control. You go to your prayer room in control, but you also leave in control.

I had a vision that the Holy Spirit showed me years ago. I saw people coming into the church, and there in the entryway, there was a large rack of beautiful white robes. Each person grabbed one and put it on and enter into the sanctuary.

While during service, everyone was happy and such, but when the service was over, they hung the white robes back on the rack and left the church. They left the church the same way they came in.

They didn’t abandon or surrender themselves to God. When you go to the altar, you’re to leave it at the altar.

You give it all to Him. You put your faith and trust in Him by abandoning or surrendering your all.

You see, religious traditions will cause you to spend your life singing someone’s else song. But, God wants to put a new song in your mouth.

Proverbs 23:26 says this, “My son, give me your heart, and let your eyes observe my ways.”

When we truly worship in spirit and truth, we fix our eyes, our hearts, our minds on Jesus Christ. All that we’ve been through, the hurt, pain and trials, when we abandon or surrender ourselves to Him, He fills us with His love, His joy, His peace.

I wake up every morning saying that this is the day that the Lord has made and I will rejoice and be glad in it! I take a breath and He breathes life into me!

We must live a life of attitude of gratitude to our Savior Lord Jesus Christ every day. Then, those around us will see and fear God; they will be in awe of His Glory and put their trust in Him.

Romans 12:1 says, “I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.”

Every day, I surrender to Him. I sing my song that He put in my mouth. Are you singing your song that He puts in your mouths? Are you surrendering your ALL to Him?

If not, I pray that you go to Him in prayer and asked Him to search your heart and let Him put a new song in your mouth.

I’ll leave it at this, Matthew 6:33, “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”

Let go and LET GOD.
