Records down, medals up
A strong senior class helped propel the Cassville track and field teams to new heights at the state meet, highlighted by two medals and two new school records for the Lady Wildcats. The Cassville boys and girls competed in 10 events at the MSHSAA Track and Field Championships Friday and Saturday, with the girls taking fourth place in the 4x800 relay and Jolie Evans placing fifth in the 3200-meter run.
Lady Trojans meet goals
The Southwest softball team endured abnormal challenges this year, welcoming a new coach and unable to play at its new field, but the Lady Trojans still came out ahead. Emily Snyder, in her first season as a head coach, skippered Southwest to an 8-12 record and a positive outlook for seasons to come.

Cassville Baseball Club hosts tourney
BY KYLE TROUTMAN ktroutman@cassville-democrat.com The Cassville Baseball Club hosted the inaugural Roaring River Shootout on Saturday, with 27 games spread across four fields and three Cassville teams winning tournament titles. Shawn Trent, coach with the Cassville Baseball Club, said it was an enjoyable day for the teams, not only on the scoreboard, but with the area youth baseball community.

Wildcats fall in semifinal heartbreaker
The margins were slim, and down 2-1 with the bases loaded and two outs, it was a strikeout that ended a positive season for Cassville baseball. The Wildcats won their first district contest since 2015 on May 13, upsetting Aurora 5-4 only four days after losing to the Houn’ Dawgs at home, 10-5.
10 events strong at state
ktroutman@cassville-democrat.com The Cassville boys and girls track and field teams qualified for 10 events at the Class 3 Track and Field Championships Friday and Saturday, with 11 total athletes participating. Hopes remain high for the distance relay teams, as the boys took first place and the girls took second in the Class 3, Sectional 3 on Saturday in West Plains.
Cassville golf focused on future
Wildcats’ season ends in district play The Cassville boys golf team is focused on the future and improving in all aspects of the game after the Wildcats’ season ended in the district tournament this year. Jay Rogers, Cassville golf coach, said this was a year of learning for Cassville, and it was a positive one.

Anthonysz joins Golden Norseman
There’s no record, but Jake Anthonysz would certainly be in the conversation of most consistent wrestler ever in the Cassville program, and on Friday, he signed his name to grow from a Wildcat to a golden Norseman. A three-sport athlete in football, wrestling and track, Anthonysz has left his largest impact on the grappling squad, and he will join the team at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College next season.
