School records fall
School record-holders for the Cassville boys and girls track and field teams are on notice this spring, as two records have already fallen and more may as the squads race to the postseason. Senior Caleb Leach started the party, running a 10:04.69 in the 3200-meter run at the Ice Box Relays in Aurora on April 6.
Scoreboard, April 19
The Purdy baseball team (15-3) was on fire at the plate last week, scoring 57 runs in three games and earning wins in each. Purdy defeated Crane 20-0 on April 11 behind a four-inning no-hitter with 9 strikeouts from Ezequiel Garcia.

Eagles bag 12 wins halfway through season
A tougher schedule is what the Purdy baseball team hopes will bring the squad back to district champion status and beyond this season. Joshua Hughes, Purdy baseball coach, said the Eagles have lost only two and return seven starters this year, experience showing with the team’s 12-3 record through Thursday.
Bulldogs boast consistent rotation
With four returning starters and seven lettermen, plus a consistent pitching rotation for the first time in a few years, the Wheaton baseball team is focused on continued improvement and a record that shows it. At 2-16 last season, the Bulldogs have trudged through the first part of this year at 0-6, but Coach Tucker Dermott has faith Wheaton will add more to the win column this season.

The Cassville boys track and field team took third place as a team at the Ice Box Relays in Aurora on April 6, and a Wildcat senior set a new record in the 3200-meter run. Caleb Leach too first place in the event with a time of 10:04.69, a new school record.

Coach V reaches 500 wins
Purdy and Cassville softball coach Lori Videmschek earned her 500th career high school softball coaching win, defeating Crane 11-1 on April 4. Videmschek was also inducted into the Missouri High School Fastpitch Coaches Association Hall of Fame this year.
