The Cassville boys and girls cross country teams traveled to Lamar Saturday to compete in the Class 3, District 2 meet. Despite the chilly and rainy weather, every runner recorded a personal best.

Wildcats reclaim Barry County Brawl trophy
After just one year in Monett the Barry County Brawl trophy is back in Cassville’s display case. The Wildcats (5-4) put together their best game of the season, according to Coach Clay Weldy, besting the Cubs (0-9) by a score of 42-7 at Wildcat Stadium on Friday.

The Cassville boys soccer team knows its district destiny. The Wildcats earned the No. 5 seed in Class 2, District 5 and will face No. 4 Greenwood at Logan-Rogersville High School on Monday at 3 p.m.

3 for Avery
A long course with difficult pin positions and fast greens presented challenges for the Cassville girls golf team at Class 3 Girls Golf State on Oct. 16-17, but that did not stop senior Avery Chappell from medaling for the third year in a row, and with her best overall finish.

‘We just made history’
“We just made history.” Those four words rang out from the excited huddle of Cassville players and coaches as they were celebrating their first ever district softball title on Monday night, a 7-6 walk-off win over Doniphan. With two outs and the bases loaded, sophomore right fielder Naveah Johnson, whose spot in the rotation was being handled by fellow sophomore Joei Blankenship all game, was thrust into her first at-bat of the contest with the title on the line after having scored two runs off Blankenship’s bat.

Brawl back in Cassville
The late-season roller coaster of opponents is taking its final turn this week, as the Cassville football team is set to host a winless Monett squad for the annual Barry County Brawl — with district implications on the line. The Wildcats endured an offensive onslaught on Friday, falling to Class 2 No.
