Purdy Council approves tax levy
Getting a break from citizen complaints during the monthly meeting, the Purdy City Council set its property tax levy for the upcoming tax cycle and heard reports from police and public works on Aug. 13.

Quilt show in Shell Knob Sept. 20-21
The Discovery Quilters of Shell Knob will host a Quilt Show from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sept. 20 at Shell Knob Elementary School, located on Highway 39, north of Shell Knob. A silent auction will be ongoing all day, and there will be demonstrations in the morning, a presentation by Rochelle Rice of Inappropriate Quilters at noon and a quilt turning at 1 p.m. On Sept. 21, the Quilt Show will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be a presentation by Rochelle Rice of Inappropriate Quilters at noon, a quilt turning at 1 p.m., a miniature quilt auction at 2 p.m. and drawings for an opportunity quilt (pictured), rocking chair and sewing machine at 3 p.m.
Charges filed for Washburn bomb threat caller
A criminal summons has been issued for a Springfield man who allegedly made terroristic threats to Washburn City Hall and the Southwest school district.
