Denali, Synagro contest fertilizer board’s decision
Denali Water Solutions and Synagro Central, two of 19 companies denied fertilizer permits by the Missouri Fertilizer Control Board (MoFCB) for the land application of their processing waste, filed suit in Cole County Circuit Court in Jefferson City on July 28. In the suit, the petitioners are requesting judicial review of, and a declaratory judgment regarding what they allege was an abrupt change in the MoFCB’s interpretation of the Missouri Fertilizer Law in April, even though the Fertilizer Law had not been changed by legislature.
Alderman appointed to Cassville council
A new alderman has been appointed to the a south ward seat, replacing a former alderman who moved out of the ward. Justin Gates, a 1998 Cassville High School graduate who was raised in Shell Knob, has filled the seat vacated by Mike Vining, a term that expires in 2024.

Pair of Cassville officers honored
An officer and a detective at the Cassville Police Department were recognized at the August Cassville City Council meeting for commendable actions and dedication to duty. Officer Matt Hoover received an America’s Real Hometown Hero Award, and Det.
Republic Services dumps local customers
Following a new agreement with the city of Cassville for trash services to be coordinated out of Bella Vista, Ark., instead of Springfield, Republic Services has discontinued services to many local residents outside Cassville city limits.

Victory Baptist selects first Rylan Wilson Scholarship recipient
Victory Baptist Church in Cassville has awarded the first Rylan Wilson Scholarship to a local recipient, Webb City graduate Elizabeth Rose Dodson. The $500 annual scholarship is open to residents of Barry County or children/grandchildren of Victory Baptist Church members.

The city of Washburn will allow residents to bring any tree limbs damaged by recent storms to the corner of County Road and Farm Road 1065, the City Lagoon, for disposal on Sept. 9 from 8 a.m.

Dog days of summer at Aquatic Center
Amy Blair’s English bulldog, Knucklehead, 2, of Monett, took a break from swimming to take a drink from the hose during Doggie Swim Day at the Cassville Aquatic Center on Saturday.

The wastewater residuals lagoon in Fairview has been turning heads in recent weeks due to sight and by smell, forcing action by the company and state officials to remedy the situations.
Iowa woman injured in crash, charged with DWI
An Iowa woman serious seriously injured and was arrested following a wreck at 2:45 p.m. Thursday on Highway 39, five miles north of Shell Knob.
