Man allegedly said he would ‘shoot up’ Monett business

An arrest warrant has been issued for Cassville man charged with making a terroristic threat toward a business in Monett.

Payton Morris, born 2004, of Cassville, is charged with second-degree terroristic threat.

According to a probable cause statement filed by Officer Briana Lomeli, with the Monett Police Department, on May 22, police were dispatched to Miracle Recreation Equipment Company in Monett regarding a thret.

Upon arrival, Lomeli made contact with a witness who stated an employee, identified as Morris, had threatened to “shoot up” the building.

The incident, Lomeli said, began at about 12:40 p.m., when Morris was finishing his shift with coworkers hen he abruptly began making statements about being accused of raping a child. Lomeli said Morris got into a verbal altercation with another witness, saying racial slurs and throwing a pipe, then allegedly saying to the witness and surrounding employees that he would kill the witness and “shoot up the building,” where more than 50 individuals are employed.

Coworkers instructed Morris to leave the premises, after which, he exited the building.

A warrant was issued for Morris’ arrest on June 10, with a bond set at $50,000, cash only.
