Virginia Ann Meek

Virginia Ann Meek, 83, of Golden, Mo., passed away Friday, January 2, 2026, at her home.

She was born August 3, 1942, in Pickens, Okla., the daughter of James and Mary Jane (McCauley) Dagenhart, who preceded her in death. 

Also preceding her in death washer husband, Phynes Lee Meek; brothers, James, Gerald, Donald, Edwin “Ned,” Doris, Robert and Glenn and sisters, Patricia Baggs, Helen Bartlett and Alice Bell.

Survivors include her sons, Tony Meek of Nixa, Kurt Meek of Golden and Kent Meek of Bridge, Ore.; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

She grew up and attended school in Battiest, Okla., graduating from Battiest High School in 1959. She later attended Southern Oregon University where she attained a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Education, later earning her Doctorate in Education. She had lived in this area for 26 years coming from Medford, Ore. She taught school in Green Forrest, Ark., for several years where she earned the honor of teacher of the year during the 2004–2005 school year. She was an investor and managed several properties.

She was of the Baptist faith and a member of Golden Baptist Church.
