Bikers injured in Hwy. 76 wreck
Two Arkansas residents were injured on Saturday in a wreck at 11:40 a.m. Saturday on Highway 76 at Highway EE, five miles west of Cape Fair.
According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, a 31-yearold male, of Arkansas, riding a 2010 Aprilla RSV4 motorcycle, and a 36-year-old male, of Fayetteville, Ark., riding a 2021 Aprilla RSV4 motorcycle, were traveling eastbound on Highway 76 when a westbound 2023 Jeep Wagoneer, being driven by a 50-year-old male, of Arizona, began turning into a private driveway at the top of a hill crest on a curve. The motorcycles struck the side of the Jeep and its trailer.
The motorcycle riders both suffered serious injuries. The 36-yearold was transported by Lifeflight to Mercy Hospital in Springfield, and the 31-year-old was transported to Mercy Springfield by EMS.
The Jeep driver was not injured.
It is unknown if the Jeep driver was wearing a safety device, and the Patrol report says in one place the bikers were wearing safety devices, but in another place, says it is unknown if they were wearing safety devices.
Both motorcycles sustained extensive damage, and the Jeep sustained minor damage.
