Kathy Casey: In opposition to stance on illegal immigration
Dear Editor:
I have to respond, and hope you publish my letter in opposition to the stance taken by your paper on the subject of illegal immigration.
The individual held by the Monett police department and subsequently picked up by ICE was in this country illegally, and, since he was already subject to deportation, bemoaning him being in custody is a slap in the face to every legal citizen.
Nearly a full page was used to detail both his position and the sympathetic position of both our Sheriffs Office and Police Department.
I have to say, I was outraged.
As a retired detention sergeant of the Maricopa County Sheriffs Office in Arizona, I had regular interactions with illegal aliens and immigration authorities. What part of Illegal is so hard to understand?
If that lengthy opinion wasn’t bad enough, we are subjected to the one by Sheila Harris comparing ICE to the Nazis. That is over the top, unforgivable; and, I for one call for her removal from a position to spew that vile comparison.
We have our officers under attack for that very reason and you actually put it out there.
I am so disgusted that I find it difficult to be fairly civil. What is the matter with you?
We should never support illegal activity of any kind.
Kathy Casey
