A Pierce City man died on Sunday in a wreck at 1:47 a.m. on Highway 97, three miles west of Purdy.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, a 21-yearold male, of pierce City, was deriving a 2000 Ford F250 northbound when his vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway, returned to the roadway and overturned.

The driver was pronounced dead on the scene at 3:05 a.m. by Barry County Coroner Gary Swearingen.

The driver was not wearing a safety device, and the vehicle was totaled.

This is the 67th fatality in 0225 for Troop D of the Patrol, which covers 18 counties in southwest Missouri, including Barry.
