An Exeter man and woman are each facing 11 felonies after allegedly stealing numerous items from a victim and being in possession of multiple firearms.
Michael Bogle, born 1985, of Exeter, and Bobbie Story, born 2002, of Exeter, are each charged with six counts of unlawful possession of a firearm, second-degree burglary, stealing ($750 or more) and three counts of stealing a firearm.
A third individual, Edward Resz, born 1964, of Cassville, is also charged with second-degree burglary and stealing ($750 or more).
According to a probable cause statement filed by Det. Jeremy Berner, with the Barry County Sheriff’s Office, on July 8, he began investigating a burglary case where a large amount of tools, household items and firearms were stolen from a victim.
On July 9, Berner received information about possible stolen property in the yard at another residence in Barry County. Berner went to the address and observed a wood splitter, three toolboxes and multiple totes of miscellaneous tools in the yard, all of which matched the allegedly stolen property.
Berner made contact with a witness who said she did not know the items were outside her residence, and she stated Bogle and another individual live at the home.
Bogle was located hiding behind the residence, according to Berner, and said he was storing the items for a friend.
The victim arrived at the location and allegedly identified the wood splitter, US General 13-drawer chect, Craftsman three-drawer chest, Kobalt four-drawer chest, LG television, Coleman Powermate Maxa 500 ER generator, Craftsman 5hp generator, Poulan chainsaw, Homelite electric weed eater, Craftsman electric chainsaw, electric wood splitter, Campbell Hausfeld electric pressure washer, weed eater, red tool box with various tools and eight large plastic totes with various tools and shop equipment. The estimated value of all the property allegedly stolen was a minimum of $5,000.
Also on July 9, Berner checked a camera placed on the victim’s property that showed a Chevy Cobalt at the victim’s residence. The same vehicle was observed at the suspect’s residence, Berner said.
Authorities also located six firearms inside the residence, and the witness said she did not own any firearms. Three of the firearms were identified as stolen during the alleged burglary.
On July 10, Berner interviewed Bogle, who allegedly said Resz was the third party involved in the thefts and transporting the items to the other house. Bogle said Resz was still in possession of multiple firearms from the burglary.
Another witness also submitted a statement stating Resz was seen driving by the residence at about 2 a.m. on July 9, and Resz was seen beside the residence with a flashlight.
Berner said Bogle has a history of fleeing and failing to appear, and Bogle, Story and Resz are convicted felons and not permitted to own firearms.
Bogle and Berner are being held in the Barry County jail on cash-only bonds of $50,000 each. Bogle has a preliminary hearing set for Aug. 28 at 1 p.m. in the courtroom of Judge Robert Foulke. Story’s case has been bound over to circuit court, and she is scheduled for arraignment on Aug. 5 at 9 a.m. in the courtroom of Judge David Cole.
Resz is being held in the Barry County jail on a $25,0000 cash-only bond. A preliminary hearing is set for Aug. 28 at 1 p.m. in the courtroom of Judge Robert Foulke.
