Ramaeker, Holenda awarded Shelter scholarships

The Shelter Insurance Foundation recently awarded a pair of $1,500 scholarships to Elly Ramaeker, a graduate of Cassville High School, and Sarah Holenda, a graduate of Wheaton High School.

Ramaeker will attend Crowder College in the fall to study elementary education, and Holenda will attend the University of Missouri to study radiography with a minor in human development and family science.

Shelter Agent Terri Lynn DeGraffenreid Brattin sponsored and partially funded this scholarship.

A committee of local high school officials and community leaders selected the local recipients. The committee considered each applicant’s scholastic achievements, educational goals, citizenship, moral character, as well as participation and leadership in school and community activities. The scholarships were awarded without regard to race, color, religion, sex, pregnancy, national origin or ancestry, physical or mental disability, veteran status, genetic information or any other classification protected by federal, state or local law.

Beginning the fall after the recipient’s high school graduation Ramaeker and Holenda can direct the scholarship funds toward tuition, fees or campus housing for any course of study leading to an academic degree at any accredited college or university. The scholarship is paid directly to the school the recipient selects.

Ramaeker and Holenda each received a certificate from Terri Lynn on behalf of the Shelter Foundation.
