City-Wide Clean-Up June 9-13

The Cassville City-Wide Clean-Up will be held the week of June 9-13. Cards, Cassville’s trash service provider, will pick up Clean-Up materials on residents’ regular trash days. Bulk items and household trash will be accepted. Items not accepted include hazardous waste, electronics, paint, tires and anything containing oil or gasoline. Cassville Farmer’s Market open on Saturdays

The Cassville Farmers Market is open weekly on Saturdays on the Barry County Courthouse Square, from 8 a.m. to noon. Vendors are offering eggs, vegetables, hand-made crafts, baked goods and more. Those interested in becoming a vendor may contact Chad Sprinkle at 417-846-3539.

Public Meeting at Roaring River State Park

The public is invited to a town hall-style meeting for Roaring River and Big Sugar Creek state parks on June 5 at 6 p.m. Representatives from Missouri State Parks will be on hand to provide information about these parks and answer questions. The public is encouraged to share comments about the parks and their operations. The meeting will be held at the Riverview Room of the Emory Melton Inn at Roaring River State Park, located at 12716 Farm Road 2239 in Cassville.

Local Christian author hosting book signing

Trish Charleston, local Christian author, will host an Author Reading and Book Signing — for the book “Stay Hooked: Finding Peace in the Journey” — on June 7 at 11 a.m. at the Cassville Branch Library. Books will be available for purchase for $20 each, and Charleston has three others available on Amazon. In “Stay Hooked,” Charleston, a rancher, devoted wife and mom, and rodeo enthusiast, shares how she holds tight to the life God has called her to, even when the trail gets rocky. Whether she’s mending fences on the ranch or cheering on her daughter in the competitive world of professional rodeo, Charleston has learned that staying committed to a calling takes grit, grace and a little cowboy wisdom.

Zone 4 hosting Trivia Night

Zone 4 Mini Golf & More will host a Trivia Night on the patio on Saturday at 7 p.m.

Democratic Central Committee to meet

The Barry County Democratic Central Committee will meet on June 10 at 6 p.m. at Adelitas Mexican Restaurant, located at 1304 Old Exeter Road. Everyone is responsible for their own meals.

Pollinator Garden workday at Roaring River

The public is invited to join the Roaring River State Park team in restoring and maintaining the native plants pollinator garden at the Ozark Chinquapin Nature Center. Volunteers will discover the importance of cultivating native plants for pollinators, and they will get tips and ideas for creating pollinator gardens in their own yards. Volunteers should wear comfortable clothes they don’t mind getting dirty and bring garden gloves, water, snacks, lunch and sunscreen. A garden kneeler may also come in handy. All tools will be provided. Registration is not required, and volunteers under the age of 18 must have a signed parental consent form. Roaring River State Park is located at 12716 Farm Road 2239 in Cassville.

Grief support group starts June 3

A free eight-week Grief Support Group begins June 3 at 7 p.m. at Cassville United Methodist Church. The group is facilitated by a professionally licensed counselor and is open to all. For more information, people may call 417-847-2328.

Old Church Gallery Farmers’ Market now open

The Old Church Gallery Farmers’ Market runs every Thursday from 8-11 a.m., offering farm fresh produce, eggs, jellies, relishes, baked goods, cut flowers, handmade crafts and more. Wheaton Depot Museum open

Cassville Branch Library weekly events

The Cassville Branch Library will host the following events this week: Thursday, Door Hanger Class, 5:30 p.m., $5 supply fee, mush pre-register.

Seligman Bingo Night on first Tuesday of month

A Bingo Night will be held the first Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. at the Seligman Chamber Event Center, located on Highway 37 north of the city. If at least 50 people attend, two train tickets will be raffled. In the case of bad weather, bingo will be postponed. The building is handicap accessible, and all ages are invited. Bingo cards are $1 per play, and there is no limit on plays. A variety of prizes, excluding cash, will be awarded. Sodas and water are available for $1 each. Cassville Senior Center hosting monthly dances

The Cassville Senior Center hosts a dance and potluck dinner with live music on the first Friday of every month. The doors open at 5:30 p.m., and the live music and dance is from 7-10 p.m. Admission is $10 and the Senior Center is located at 1111 Fair St. in Cassville. All ages are welcome, and there is no cost for children 18-and-under. There will be door prizes, refreshments, a 50-50 raffle and a potluck dinner at 8 p.m., and attendees are welcome to bring a dish. All proceeds go to the Senior Center.

OATS rides available in Barry County

OATS Transit offers regular transportation services for the rural general public of any age, seniors, and individuals with disabilities. People may call the local OATS Transit office at 417-887-9272 or 800-770-6287 to schedule a ride or find out about services in the Barry County area. People may also visit the OATS website at oatstransit.org to view local schedules under “Bus Schedules,” then click on the county of service. OATS Transit is hiring drivers statewide to continue serving riders. Openings are listed on the OATS website. OATS offices will be closed and regular service will not be operating on May 26 in observance of Memorial Day.

Lessons offered before Seligman’s Saturday dances

The Seligman Chamber of Commerce country dances at the Seligman Chamber Event Center are every Saturday from 7-10 p.m. No alcohol is allowed. Admission is $10 per person, and 18-and-under are free. There is a potluck, 50-50 drawing and door prizes. Free dance lessons will also be given from 5-6 p.m. For more information, people may call 479-903-3640.
