Man charged with theft from Dollar General deposit

A Purdy man has been charged with felony stealing after allegedly taking more than $2,600 from a bank deposit at his place of employment.

Tyler Short (Lakey), born 1999, of Purdy, is charged with felony stealing $750 or more.

According to a probable cause statement filed by Det. Abby Parsons, with the Barry County Sheriff’s Office, on April 8, she spoke to a witness, the district manager of Dollar General’s Washburn location, who provided documents showing $2,680.67 was missing from the nightly deposit between Jan. 8 and Jan. 22.

The witness also states she obtained video footage of Short unplugging the security system.

On May 6, Parsons said she spoke to Short, and he allegedly admitted to taking the money from the nightly deposit.

Short was issued a criminal summons on May 13, and an entry of appearance was filed on May 15, and his initial appearance is scheduled for June 5 at 8:30 a.m. in the courtroom of Judge Robert Foulke.
