Cassville man charged with Regal vehicle theft
A Cassville man has been arrested on felony charges after an alleged vehicle theft from the Regal parking lot on Thursday.
Jesse Tucker, 33, of Cassville, is charged with failing to register as a sex offender, and the Barry County Sheriff’s Office has submitted a charge of felony stealing a motor vehicle to the Barry County Prosecutor’s Office.
According to a press release from Sheriff Danny Boyd, at about 10 am. Thursday, the Sheriff’s Office took a report of a 2013 Ford Mustang stolen from the parking lot at Regal, located at 11206 Farm Road 2182 (Sale Barn Road) in Cassville. Video footage allegedly showed Tucker walking in the parking lot, and shortly after the report, the vehicle was recovered abandoned at 1104 Mill St. in Cassville.
“Barry County detectives began searching the area to locate the suspect,” Boyd said in the release. “Deputy Forester observed the male subject matching the description walk inside the residence located at 1002 Mill Street.”
According to a probable cause statement filed by Det. Jeremy Berner, with the Barry County Sheriff’s Office, Berner began an investigation into Tucker as a non-compliance sex offender. Tucker, Berner said, is a tier 3 sex offender and is required to register every 90 days, with his last required deadline on April 30.
Tucker was arrested for the alleged vehicle theft, and at the Sheriff’s Office, Berner said during an interview, Tucker said he had been staying with family on Farm Road 2200 but did not provide a full address. Tucker was convicted of statutory sodomy in Barry County in 2017. Berner noted in the statement it is unknown where Tucker is residing, poses a danger to a crime victim or the community and was under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
For the failure to register as a sex offender, Tucker’s bond is set at $7,500, cash only. A bond hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. Thursday in the courtroom of Judge Robert Foulke.
