A Carl Junction woman is facing four total charges for allegedly misusing a company credit card belonging to a Barry County facility.

Christine Grizzle, 39, of Carl Junction, is charged with one count of felony stealing, two counts of misdemeanor fraudulent use of a credit card device and one count of misdemeanor stealing.

According to a probable cause statement filed by Det. Abby Parsons, with the Barry County Sheriff’s Office, on Aug. 10, 2023, she took a report from a party claiming he had reason to believe the administrator of the facility he owned was stealing and misusing the facility’s credit card.

A witness provided Parsons with numerous receipts of items Grizzle allegedly purchased that were not located at the facility and unauthorized. They included six transactions made in Barry County for a total of $6,829.09.

On June 12, Grizzle allegedly purchased a pressure washer for $380.32 from a vendor in Monett, which was not authorized. Employees had seen the equipment at the facility but said it did not stay there, and employees believed it belonged to her husband because Grizzle allegedly told them he was letting the facility borrow it.

After her termination, Grizzle made arrangements to return items she stated she was storing at her residences for the facility. Of the 72 items she returned on Aug. 16, one was a heavily used pressure washer.

On April 17, 2023, Grizzle was provided a $1,500 check by mail to purchase furniture for the facility. Grizzle allegedly deposited a portion of the check and cashed a portion, and on Aug. 10, she said the furniture was out in storage. Parsons said the furniture was not located and found to have never been purchased.

A total of five purchases were made through DoorDash from Feb. 1, 2023 to Aug. 10, 2023 for a total of $134.47, all delivered to the facility’s address in Barry County. Grizzle allegedly made those purchases without authorization.

The witness also told Parsons Grizzle was paid $5,000 a pay period and could obtain paid time off but was not authorized to take paid time off on top of her regular pay. The witness said on three occasions in February, March and June 2023, Grizzle allegedly added paid time off to her regular pay for a total of $4,384.44.

Multiple facility employees also told Parsons on June 29, 2023, Grizzle allegedly purchased a grill in Cassville using money that had been raised. The employees stated after an event, the grill was allegedly loaded into Grizzle’s truck and never observed again. The witness said Grizzle submitted a receipt to be reimbursed for the grill, totaling $214.93, allegedly indicating she purchased it with her own money.

Grizzle was issued a criminal summons on Nov. 14, 2023, and her case was bound over to circuit court on Thursday. She is scheduled to be arraigned in circuit court on April 3 at 9 a.m. in the courtroom of David Cole.
