Victory Baptist selects first Rylan Wilson Scholarship recipient

Victory Baptist Church in Cassville has awarded the first Rylan Wilson Scholarship to a local recipient, Webb City graduate Elizabeth Rose Dodson.

The $500 annual scholarship is open to residents of Barry County or children/grandchildren of Victory Baptist Church members.

Dodson, granddaughter of Gary and Rose Ball, and daughter of Nathan and Renee Dodson, of Webb City, was awarded the scholarship on July 22.

Dodson graduated from Webb City with a 4.0 GPA and was involved in numerous extra-curricular activities, including: football manager, wrestling manager, FCA, NHS, Leadership Club, Talents Search, Philanthropy Club, Breakfast Club with SPED and Link Crew.

She attends Faith Baptist and Victory Baptist churches, where she teaches youth class, helps in the nursery and helps clean and prepare communion.

She is attending Pittsburg State University in Kansas.

Rylan Wilson was a 19-year-old Cassville resident who died in a motor vehicle accident earlier this year, and the scholarship was established by Victory Baptist Church, where Wilson had been baptized.
