Lady Wildcats split in Greenwood

The Cassville girls soccer team (3-2) won one and lost one over the weekend at the Greenwood Classic. The Lady Wildcats fell to West Plains, 3-0, then bounced back with a 1-0 win over Aurora. Emma Berndt tallied the winner on an assist from Audrey Gosvener. The defense and freshman goalkeeper Ava Hinson picked up their third shutout of the year. Cassville played at Carl Junction on Tuesday and will face Marshfield on the road on Thursday.

Wildcats kick off season

The Cassville baseball team (1-3) has started its season and opened its new turf stadium at the high school. The Wildcats picked up a 12-1 win over McAuley Catholic on March 17, then fell to Big 8 foes Mt. Vernon, 7-6, and Seneca, 14-4, in Cassville Classic action March 20 and 24. Cassville’s home opener on the new turf was held on Monday against Purdy, where the Wildcats led 1-0 midway through the game but ultimately fell to the Eagles, 8-2. Cassville returns to action on Thursday at Marionville, and the Wildcats will host Southwest on Saturday at 11 a.m.

The Cassville boys and girls track and field teams traveled to McDonald County on March 22, with both teams taking third place overall. The Wildcats turned in 11 top-three finishes, including two firsts, and the Lady Wildcats equalled the mark, but had three firsts on the day. Full results include:
