Wheaton grows with size challenge
[email protected] The tallest Wheaton girls basketball player this season was only 5-4, but the Lady Bulldogs did not let age or size challenges squash their growth on the court this season. Finishing at 5-22, Wheaton Coach Jessica Dermott said a squad of only seven players, three of whom were freshmen, met many individual goals and continued to improve through the season.

Scoreboard, March 8

Party on, girls
The Cassville girls wrestling team was easy to spot at the MSHSAA Wrestling Championships — just look for the girls in party hats and novelty sunglasses. The Lady Wildcats entered state with high expectations, ranked No.

Making a STATE-ment
The Cassville boys wrestling team took a record number of members to the Class 2 MSHSAA Wrestling Championships Wednesday and Thursday, and they have returned with a record number of medals.

All in the family
Prep athletics coaches commonly call their team a family, but the Cassville wrestling program is taking the mantra a little more literally. A total of eleven boys and girls wrestlers qualified for the 2023 MSHSAA Wrestling Championships, and more than half are related.

Big Red believes
“Belief creates vision; belief creates strength of will; belief creates resilience; and belief ignites and activates.” The Southwest boys basketball team (21-7) rode that wave of belief to a historic moment on Friday, upsetting Sparta 56-42 in the Class 3, District 12 championship in Diamond — the first for the team in 57 years.
