Pair allegedly took tools, items from property

Two teenagers have been charged with felony stealing after allegedly taking tools and other items from a property in Barry County.

Hunter Stephens, 18, of Washburn, and Logan Deiser, 18, of Seligman, are each charged with stealing ($750 or more) and second-degree trespassing.

According to a probable cause statement filed by Det. Jeremy Berner, with the Barry County Sheriff’s Office, on July 28, law enforcement began investigating an alleged theft that occurred on or before July 20-27.

The victim advised there were photos and videos from a piece of property the victim owned showing a truck and two individuals stealing items from the property.

On July 31, Deiser was interviewed at the Barry County Sheriff’s Office and allegedly admitted he and Stephens had entered the property in his truck to look at a building, and they allegedly stole multiple items from the property.

Items allegedly stolen included: a Dewalte 60V Max VSR stud/joist drill kit, a Dewalt 20V Max XR brushless cordless 1/2 in hammer drill, two Dewalt 20 Max HR cordless brushless 1/4 impacts, a Dewalt 20V Max XR brushless cordless reciprocal saw, a Dewalt 20V Max cordless 10,000 PSI variable speed grease gun, a key to a Sky Track, a bag of miscellaneous tools, a Dewalt electric grease gun, a Dewalt skill saw and six Dewalt batteries.

The value of the amount of items totaled $3,810.

Criminal summons have been issued for Stephens and Deiser, and their initial appearances are scheduled for Oct. 8 at 8:30 a.m. in the courtroom of Judge Robert Foulke.
