Shell Knob man dies in boat collision

A Shell Knob man died in a boat collision at 1:45 p.m. on Aug. 18 on Table Rock Lake in Viola.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, a northbound Jon boat, year unknown, being driven by a 57-year-old male, of Shell Knob, and a southbound 2015 Regal open motorboat, being driven by a 61-year-old female, of Lone Tree, Colo., collided while meeting on the Kings River arm of Table Rock Lake.

The male died as a result of the collision and was transported to Fohn Funeral Home. The female suffered serious injuries and was transported to Mercy Hospital in Springfield.

Neither were wearing a safety device.

The Jon boat was totaled, and the motorboat sustained moderate damage.

This is the third boating fatality of the year for Troop D of the Patrol, which covers 18 counties in southwest Missouri, including Barry.
