Wheaton Road District to meet

The monthly Wheaton Road District Meeting will be held on Aug. 4 at 5 p.m. at the Wheaton Road District barn on Highway A across from Holmes Farm Supply.

Cassville Health Care and Rehab hosting Back to School event

Cassville Health Care and Rehabilitation, located at 1300 County Farm Road in Cassville, will sponsor a Back to School Backpack Night on Aug. 7 from 5-7 p.m. Attendees can pick out a backpack, which will be filled with grade-level school supplies. Residents will help at the tables, along with staff. The event is geared toward families in the community that cannot afford school supplies for their children.

In-person absentee voting through Aug. 3

Two week in-person, no excuse absentee voting for the Aug. 4 Primary Election runs through Aug. 3. Voters must present photo identification to vote. Acceptable IDs include: Missouri Driver License, Missouri Non-Driver License, Military ID or Passport. The Barry County Clerk’s Office will be open Saturday, August 1, 2026, for absentee voting from 9 a.m. to noon. Anyone who has moved or had an address change should need to contact the Clerk’s office or come into the office and have their information updated, before Election Day. Cassville Branch Library hosting events

The Cassville Branch Library will host the following events in the coming week: Thursday, Move ‘N’ Groove Low Impact Exercise Class, 11 a.m., Library for Everyone, 1 p.m., Grease Movie Night, 5:30 p.m.; Friday, Bingo Bash, 5:30 p.m.; Saturday, Crochet, 10 a.m.; Tuesday, Story Time, 10 a.m.

Old Church Gallery Farmers Market open

The Old Church Gallery Farmers’ Market runs every Thursday from 8-11 a.m. at the Gallery, located on Farm Road 1240 in Shell Knob. The market offer farm fresh produce, eggs, jellies, relishes, baked goods, cut flowers, handmade crafts and more. The selection varies every week, so come early for the best choice. Barry County Community Garden meetings set

The Barry County Community Garden has scheduled its monthly meetings on the first Monday of every month, at Harvick Farms, located at 16062 Hwy. 76 in Cassville. The work in the garden days are from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Garden, located at on 10160 Farm Road 2160. Tentative working days depend on the weather and will be updated on the organization’s Facebook page, “Barry County Community Garden,” and people may contact the page fort more information. Produce from the garden goes to the Cassville Pantry. New members and/or volunteers may come and reserve a plot.

Cassville Farmers’ Market open on Saturdays

The Cassville Farmers Market is open weekly on Saturdays on the Barry County Courthouse Square, from 8 a.m. to noon. Vendors are offering eggs, vegetables, hand-made crafts, baked goods and more. Those interested in becoming a vendor may contact Chad Sprinkle at 417-846-3539.

Lessons offered before Seligman’s Saturday dances

The Seligman Chamber of Commerce country dances at the Seligman Chamber Event Center are every Saturday from 7-10 p.m. No alcohol is allowed. Admission is $10 per person, and 18-and-under are free. There is a potluck, 50-50 drawing and door prizes. Free dance lessons will also be given from 5-6 p.m. For more information, people may call 479-903-3640.

OATS Transit offers regular transportation services for the rural general public of any age, seniors, and individuals with disabilities. People may call the local OATS Transit office at 417-887-9272 or 800-770-6287 to schedule a ride or find out about services in the Barry County area. People may also visit the OATS website at oatstransit.org to view local schedules under “Bus Schedules,” then click on the county of service. OATS Transit is hiring drivers statewide to continue serving riders.
